Music is a highly under-utilized self-soothing tool, not to mention an unexpectedly perfect marker for our personal growth. Representative of hundreds of little seasons of the heart, the songs we connect with help us track time and realize the changes that are happening in our lives. As we shift and grow more fully into ourselves, letting go of what we need to let go of and reaching for what we've discovered matters most, sometimes we just need some new music to ring in the change.

You recently broke up with someone you know wasn't right for you, but the not-rightness doesn't stop you from missing that person. You had a good time getting ready for your first date with your new potential boo. In fact, while getting ready, you realized that you felt sexy and light for the first time in a while.
Your date was really great, and afterwards you found yourself focusing on all the ways the new person is so much better at X than your ex.
Somewhere in the back of your head, you know you're not gonna go on more than 4 dates (tops) with them, and as you get ready for bed after your "really great" date, you're caught off guard by the fact that you kind of feel like crying (but not enough to actually bring tears).
You're not over it, but you almost are. You genuinely don't want your ex back, but you still care enough to want them to want you back. You want them to reach out so you can gently let them know that you're sorry, but you've moved on.
You know in your gut that you're better off, you just don't fully feel that way.
